| I used to work at Verizon, but I don't work anywhere now. So, I guess I don't have much to add to this thread. Verizon is a great company, but they started pressuring all the sales people at my store to lie to the customers about what they were selling them to up accessory sales. I figured out a way to fake the reports and showed it to everyone, so we didn't have to lie to customers, but they would stop pressuring us. I went a little overboard though and our store went through the roof on accessory sales. Eventually they found out what I was doing and I got fired. Everyone else got written up for being an accessory. <---pun. I'm planning on joining the Air Guard in November, but I have to pass the physical first, they are questioning the health of my back. | |

I am responsible for so much and if things don't get done then I have to answer for it. It seems I am always telling a customer their car won't be ready when we said it would be, etc. But that is the nature of the industry. Many times you take a car apart and find supplemental/hidden damage that you couldn't see before. I do a lot more than manage the business. I do accounts receivable, accounts playable, quickbooks, estimates, ordering parts, dealing with customers, dealing with insurance companies, turning in supplements and more. Been doing this since High School. IDK, I guess the grass is always greener eh?

| I work for Social Security as a Disability Claims Examiner. I basically read medical records all day and detemine who is or is not eligible for Disailiby benefits. I have held this job for 4 years now.
I am also attending college on-line full time trying to earn a 2nd degree in Criminal Justice so I can leave this job and, hopefully, become a Crime Scene Investigator. But I would just be happy with any CJ job.

| I am a stay at home mom now and am also doing the online school thing. I will apply to Western's dental hygiene program in January, but they only take 24 people,so I am not getting my hopes up. If I don't get in, I will still go to school for something, I just don't know what. Being a SAHM is great, but I want it to be a choice. Not just because I don't have any job skills. | |

| I work at a small bookstore but the workload is very small since this small business has been hit hard by the economy. People just don't come in to buy, or browse for that matter. I'm looking for jobs elsewhere since I'm going back to college in August. | |

| I used to buy shite loads of books but the stores kept pestering me about joining their book clubs so I stopped going to Barns and Noble and Books a Million. I still need 6 more 007 books to finish my set. I averaged 10 to 12 books a month but the cost and annoying sign up people pissed me off. | |

| I am a stay at home mom. My husband drives a truck. I like it because it gives us our space. He was wanting to change jobs sometime to find something where he can be home every day (he is gone now all week) I haven't worked in 6 years. I did work at KFC. That is how I met my husband. I had worked there since my freshman year in high school. I was even in training to become a shift supervisor but I couldn't stand all the assholes that wanted to argue over food. So I just said forget this I am not going through all of this crap (those were not my exact words) So now I spend my days taking care of my 3 little girls. I love it. I do believe I will go back to work when my youngest starts school though. You can never have too much money. | |

I'm going to be honest, I buy my books off amazon whenever I can. Better selection, better prices. I just don't have 20 - 40 bucks to spend on books. I also try to buy my cd's off amazon, too. Does your bookstore do any internet selling? They will have to to survive.

| What an amazingly relevant question, and a great one, Allen! Yes, the store does do internet selling. The whole reason I was recruited was for data entry. I type fast so it was good work. They had been doing it a couple of years, so they had the whole office filled on the shelves, full of books. So I came in and there was no room for more.
I appraised the books, matched them with what the competition's current value was, then of course brought the price down to be most competitive. They have five stars on Amazon, so I always advertise that online. What we actually do is put the same book online at like 13 or 14 different book meccas online. Then, it's first come, first served.
When I first started I did this all the time. Then they let the shelver go b/c of the economy and sales had dropped significantly. Next, I was asked to shelve and did so a couple months. Then they put me on an "as needed" basis. Now, as for are they surviving? Yes. They still sell books online. But until the store changes around the whole business, which is what they want to do, to become fully online, my help has not been needed.
I interviewed today at a customer service for cellphones job. I'm sure you're familiar, what with working at Verizon. Any tips to come my way are appreciated. So I'm being interviewed tomorrow by a supervisor and wish me luck on getting the job.
I hate to leave the other place on the back burner, but they left me there first, so I guess I had to move on to survive myself. And right, money never hurts.

| I work in real estate...industrial...in Atlanta. I actually have a secure job unlike many realtors becaue I work for one gentleman that ones 42 multi-tenant buildings...do the leasing, property management, accounting and now I run the business side of the construction company we developed. Honestly, I don't enjoy my super busy job anymore. I have started missing nursing recently and have decided to go back and finish up the degree. I will be starting school again once I decide where I am moving...no more Atlanta for me...and I will have approx. a year to finish up! | |

| I did land a new job. It's at another bookstore - Borders Superstore in Cool Springs (Franklin, TN). I am on the IPT team, the inventory team. We have to get there some days at 6 AM. So I get up at quarter til 5:00 that day. I help move carts of books to their section and put them out. It's working with my hands, something I like. I'd rather do that than sell or cashier any day. | |

| I work for a spine surgeon in Nashville. I do the billing for our weight bearing MRI! My job is pretty easy because I'm a number geek. I also do all of Doc's personal media projects which makes no sense because I am technologically challenged!! I only work 4 days a week, but I've been trying to talk my husband into letting me be a SAHM.....he's not budging so far. | |

| I quit teaching to saty home with the babes. Before #3 was on the way I started my own irrevrent baby shirt company and did fairly well until morning sickness hit again and I pulled it off line. I still take custom orders from time to time. Homeschooling is a full time job for me now. However, if the economy continues to tank and Joe can't find a job soon, I'm afraid I'm headed for a career in burger flipping or coffee pouring. | |

| As most of you know I work at Street Tuxedo. Most of the time you can find me at the Cool Springs location but I also work at our Bellevue and Murfreesboro stores from time to time. Business is great and it keeps me busy. In my spare time I make diaper bags. There is a shop in Murfreesboro that sells them but mostly I make them for friends or word-of-mouth clients. | |

| That's awesome, Rachael. I work in Cool Springs, also which is great clientele on my end. In addition to ITP, I answer phones, find books for people, and run the register. I'm busy 24/7 at that job. I am going to bed now to be up at 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. | |
