Once again, as the election draws nearer, I see an influx of attack ads, just as we witnessed 4 years ago. It seems that the closer we get to an election these days, the candidates stop talking about why they are the right choice and focus on why their opponent is the wrong choice. I noticed this in the recent Nashville Mayorial race. I also noticed it in the last Tn Senate race. I personally would like to vote for a candidate, not against one. This whole deal where we are left to decide between the lesser of two evils is getting old.

Barack Obama and John McCain? In a country of over 300,000,000 people and this is the best we are offered? One guy is an inexperienced Socialist who wants to bankrupt the country and the other is a career politician who has contradicted himself throughout his entire campaign.

McCain is stooping to doing ads with pictures of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and Obama's supporters are focusing on McCain being old and not "cool". Seriously, I heard an ad last night targeted at the American youth that talked about how old McCain was and how Obama was the cooler candidate. Is this election real? I don't choose my doctor or my accountant based on how cool they are, I'm sure as hell not going to choose my president based on this. I also don't like someone who makes childish ads about their opponent. I agree with McCain's point that Obama is nothing more than a celebrity and is only slightly more qualified than your average pop star, but there are more mature ways to get your point across.

One group I heard was interviewing some college kids and they were asking them how they felt about McCain. They sounded like soundbites from Clueless, "He's like, old and stuff. I mean, he's like, like, a granddad or something, you know? Like, old." I don't want people like this voting.

Anyways, it irritated me, as most elections these days do. I've decided that neither McCain nor Obama will be getting my vote this year. I'm definitely voting third party. I've heard plenty of Americans complain about the last couple of elections and how the Republican and Democratic candidate both suck. Well, until we as a people stop voting for parties and start studying all the candidates and voting for their convictions, this will be the case every 4 years. Just because these are the guys that the media are focusing on doesn't mean you have to vote for them. No, I don;t think that whoever I vote for has a chance of winning, but I believe the message is more important. If no one ever steps out of line to start a new one, we will forever be in the same line.

Remember this, Lincoln was a third party candidate. If anyone reads this, here is a website that lists all the people running for president and their stances on the issues. Read through them and choose the candidate that represents you, not a party.

Well-placed in the Taboo forum.

Well, I am not going to list my persuasions or opinions about the race, but I did want to mention a few things I have noticed.

It is true that McCain has more experience. Military men are good commanders-in-chief. That career choice was good when politics was a later choice for him. Lieberman has gone across the aisle to endorse and support McCain's campaign. He views experience as necessary, and states that Obama doesn't have enough.

Obama is young and inexperienced. His socialism - I hear that but don't know why. I have to admit I do not worry about socialism. I don't think a socialist has ever had a successful campaign for president in the US. I think Eugene V. Debs was one who ran. Look where that got him. I don't worry about socialism because it is a dead way of thinking. It runs on in China, but what I don't understand is how China can say it is communist with all those McDonalds they have over there. That's like saying "We're communist, but we all like to pay an American restaurant chain to eat burgers." Pure socialism would involve living off the land, the rice paddies, instead of ordering a number 4 combo large size-it with a chocolate shake. Does anyone else think this is humorous?

I think Lincoln was Republican. He was the first one, I believe. The first Republican, 1861. Right after he was elected, South Carolina seceded and Fort Sumter was burned by the Union navy. They didn't like him because he was pro-free-state, and started the war that brought brothers to battle with each other. But at least a lot of good has come out of the fiasco.

Funny Philip. Very Happy Was Debs an admitted Socialist? That's the thing, Obama isn't saying he is a Socialist and most people that are voting for him don't understand Socialism and don't know that his views are Socialist.

As far as China, yes, it is funny, but I think they are doing things like that for Global PR reasons. I found out last week that China is one of the 4 countries that have a Home Depot. I thought that was extremely strange.

Lincoln, yes, he was a Republican.

Hurley - Heck yeah I watched Glory. Did you watch Gettysburg? It was awesome. I love it. Anyway, Denzel is one of my most favorite actors. I see everything he's in.

Same thing with Jennifer Connelly, Jessica Biel, and Drew Barrymore.
