| No, Julie, it probably wouldn't do him any good in Rapid City. But what a sight it would be if they put up a huge body of water right in front of Mount Rushmore. Now there's a scenic view.
Incidentally, my dad's mom was born in Gettysburg, SD. Her dad's dad moved there from Sogn og Fjordane, Norway in the 1880s during the period of time where you could get a huge piece of land through the Homestead Act. So when Mr. Hamlett taught us about that period, I brought in a copy of the deed signed by the then-President. He thought it was really cool. And when he had to describe who in the class had the "Nordic" look, he chose me for brown hair, 6-foot-plus, and blue eyes. Although my girlfriend argues over the proper name for my eye color! Hahaha. |

| What recess games were your favorites? I had a flashback today of freeze tag and all of the morphed versions. I preferred tv freeze tag. Dodge ball is still #1 though. _________________ The world is going crazy, I am just cutting in line. |

| I love kickball until I fell down on the concrete in my Sam and Libby's rounding 3rd base. I bloodied up my favorite skirt.
Anyone remember "line aerobics" in 8th grade, ladies?? |

| Recess - I liked playing kickball, too except I would drop the ball. I remember one time I was the one who dropped the kickball instead of catching it to get an out. I had "lost the game." It was a very big deal in second grade.
Basketball and flag football, dodgeball, volleyball, I just didn't really like jumping rope or running "the mile run." Outside of recess I enjoyed swimming. |

| Hells ya! Jumping Rope was the coolest! Apparently I was pretty good too. Mrs. Rice (I think her name was) gave me a special part in the routine we did at bball games. ...It is sad, I don't know if I could do any of that anymore. I'd probly kill over. I can just imagine trying to do a front handspring into the double-butch now-a-days.. It wouldn't be pretty.. . . |

| Here is a picture of Philip holding his new toy in my backyard.

And here is a picture of me holding it. I look kind of redneck, but it felt cool!

| ok my gun loving people...I need some advice... Last night my neighbor came by to tell me about the home directly behind me...It is involved is some kind of drug deals or illegal alien paper work. Also they have been staring at the children in the neighborhood. Because my home is so close and I have a cute little girl I'm now terrified they might hurt her or all of us. I had previously told my husband that there had been A LOT of men in and out of the home and it made me nervous. But when a MALE neighbor (that I have never met before)comes by it really made me concerned.... Not many men are going to waste their time telling a women about a crazy neighbor unless something is going on. Also the police are spending a lot of time patrolling the neighborhood. That makes me feel better but it also tells me something is really going on. SOOOOOOOOO. Do I need a gun permit to have a gun in my home? I do not intend to carry it anywhere. Only feel the need to keep it for protection in case something crazy happens. I know there are gun safety classes...should I take one? I have only used a shotgun at my in-laws home. His dad taught me how to shoot skeets. I did good but do not feel confident to handle a weapon. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW I live in a nice neighborhood. It's really sad but this can happen ANYWHERE
What type of gun should I purchase and how does the waiting period work? My husband has lots of hunting guns and they are all at his dad's home. I just want something small and easy to handle.

| No you do not need any kind of registration or permit to own or have a gun in your home. Permit is only if you want to carry. The absolute best gun for home defense is a 12ga. shotgun but its not the easiest to wield. Also TN has no waiting period. You can go buy a gun and ammo today if you want. Handguns are the easiest to handle but also the most dangerous to have with kids. Revolvers are the easiest of the handguns to operate but the downside is they have no safety so it has to be out of reach and or locked. Taurus makes a revolver that is a 410 shot or a 45 long colt. I want one myself. They are not easy to find but I would highly reccomend it, also Taurus guns(and many others now) are made with a built in lock that is easy to operate with a small key rather than the cable locks or trigger gaurd locks. _________________ The world is going crazy, I am just cutting in line. |
